Betty came into my life simply given that I knew her father, Yippee a short, stout dog also of dubious breeding. Yippee, a village dog, would regularly make the rounds of the neighbourhood to go to his human friends for a yarn. He was a talking dog. I speak of Yippee in the past tense as he is no longer with us.
His mature, friendly, a fewwhat roguish nature made him exceedingly endearing and convinced me that his offspring would be worth offering a property to.
Betty has been with me now for 15 years. She did inherit a few of her fathers excellent nature as well as the capability to speak. I am happy to report she did not buy her mothers penchant for male canines.
However there was a slight hiccup in her pubescent years when the cattle dog from up the lane forced himself upon her. Luckily there were no children to this unwanted union.
Her social nature meant she made friends with ereallyone, the birds, the dogs and the cats the frogs, the hens the lamas, the kids, the cattle - all lived in harmony.
Betty enjoyed outings, particularly at day in the beach. Despite her short legs she took to the rough and tumble of the waves like a pig in mud.
